admin September 15, 2010 at 9:25 am

Hi,

Erin Fae October 22, 2010 at 9:20 am

What should I wear to class?

admin October 23, 2010 at 11:03 am

Hi Erin,

just loose fitting comfortable clothes – track pants and a t-shirt is fine.

Linda October 24, 2010 at 9:21 am

Hey there
are the free classes just intro? and do we have to use them at a specified time? I am very keen to give this a go but am swamped with exams at the moments *sigh*

Cheers
Linda

admin October 24, 2010 at 9:35 am

Hi Linda,

you can use the two free classes at any time – they don’t expire. And you can use them on any class – though the intermediate class is recommended for people with some experience of capoeira.

cheers

Hello,
I’m visiting Auckland and would like to train while over here and was wondering what style you practice and if it’s possible to join a class tonight?
Bec

admin October 28, 2010 at 4:13 am

Hi Bec,

we practise Capoeira Regional. Sure – come along to the class – you’d be most welcome.

hello, i ve been practising capoeira a few years ago and i would like to start again but i m pretty busy throught the week so i was wondering if your saturday morning open training are like proper classes or just extra training for people already taking classes
cheers
mat

admin November 4, 2010 at 6:56 pm

Hi Mat,

for the Saturday morning trainings you’d need to organise with Junior to get a key beforehand – they’re not classes – they’re self directed training.
cheers,
Naomi

Jordan December 14, 2010 at 3:09 am

Hi, I am from the U.S.A. but my brother is there doing mission work. He’s been enrolled in classes, but because of some finances, he’s not going to be able to continue with them. I’m not sure what class he is in. And I’m also wondering how much it is per month, as I’d like to get it for him for Christmas.
Thank you :o )

tabs January 8, 2011 at 6:11 am

hey i saw some girls doing capoeira at this fire show and i’ve been interested ever since……im just wondering would this effect my performance with my surfing in any way if i startd taking classes

admin January 8, 2011 at 3:20 pm

Hi there,
we do have several surfers in our Capoeira class. Capoeira helps flexibility, speed and stamina, so I think it would have a positive effect on your surfing.

cheers

Andy January 9, 2011 at 10:51 pm

Hello!
I’m new to Capoeira and would like to attend beginners classes over January. It appears the Monday beginners class at 6:30 has stopped – should I turn up to the “all levels” class at 7:30, or will this be above my head and I should wait for the Wednesday class?

Thanks!!
Andy

admin January 10, 2011 at 7:36 pm

Hi Andy,

the Monday’s class is at 7:00 for the beginning of summer – you can certainly come to any all level class or the beginners class. We generally split the class so you’ll be able to learn at your own pace.

cheers
Naomi

Jasper February 6, 2011 at 3:27 am

Hi
I’m 44 years old, relatively unfit with a history of Tae Kwon Do.
I am looking for something interesting and fun to do and wondering if this is likely to kill me or is it possible to take it slow and build up gradually without looking like a real old idiot?

Cheers

admin February 6, 2011 at 6:38 am

Hi Andy,

we have people of all ages here, and the idea is to start at whatever level you’re at right now and gradually build up. So, with a history of another martial art, I’m sure you’ll be fine. We have a split class for Monday, with beginners training as well as intermediate.

cheers
Naomi

Daniel February 25, 2011 at 2:52 am

Hey

I just want to join you for the open training tomorrow.
Have I to sign up before? Or can I come and train with you?
I did capoeira before and want to see how your training and the group is.
Looking forward to hear from you
kind regards daniel

Phoenix Attwood February 27, 2011 at 7:49 am

Hi
How old do you have to be?

admin February 27, 2011 at 8:33 am

Hi Daniel,

you can just come along – it’s fine. We have beginners and experienced students, and split the class accordingly.

cheers
Naomi

admin February 27, 2011 at 8:35 am

Hi Phoenix,

there’s not actual an age limit. The kids class I think is for people younger than 13, but we have people from that age to over 45 in our adults class. Everyone starts from where they are at, and learns from there.

Like many skills, you don’t have to be fit or flexible to start – you become that way through practicing the skill.

cheers
Naomi

Jayden March 27, 2011 at 9:59 pm

Hi,

im really interested in the regional style of capoeira. I would like to know if yous teach that style?

Thanks

admin March 28, 2011 at 5:43 am

Hi Jayden,

yes, that’s the style of capoeira we do.

cheers
Naomi

Ben May 7, 2011 at 11:41 pm

Hi there!

Do you guys need an online booking system? With Ezybook you can track exactly who is coming to every class, and soon we’ll have the ability for clients to buy a concession card online through us, and ezybook will automatically track their usage, and prompt them to buy their next card when it’s expired.

regards,
Ben

Jacob May 21, 2011 at 4:34 am

Hi,
I’m keen to learn capoeira, I have no history of martial arts.
Do I just turn up to a class or do I have to book or something, I was hoping a class on a monday

Thanks Jacob

Raimund May 21, 2011 at 4:35 am

Hi,
I am extremely uncoordinated and not very flexible would this be the martial art for me

Thanks Raimund

admin May 21, 2011 at 6:41 am

Hi Raimund,

I’d suggest giving it a try – if you like it – then it’s the martial art for you! There’s no requirement to be flexible or coordinated before you start – that’s what we all learn as we go along.

admin May 21, 2011 at 6:42 am

Hi Jacob,

you can just turn up on Monday – just check the class schedule first – I think there’s a beginner’s class at 6:30

Esperanca June 8, 2011 at 10:32 pm

Hey Au,

I am coming up from Dunedin next Thursday and hanging out in Auckland for a week before I head to Brazil and was hoping to pop in and do some training with you guys? I’m not sure if I’ll make it to the Thursday class or the week after..which one would be best?

Axe,

Esperanca (Aruande)

Assustado July 25, 2011 at 4:10 am

Hi,
I wanted to know if there is a class today and i had the free tickets but i can’t print them.
I will certainly come to suscribe for few months.

Cordially.

admin July 25, 2011 at 8:25 am

Hi there,

just check the class info page: http://aucapoeira.co.nz/capoeira/capoeiraclasses/
for class times. And if you let Junior know you have a ticket but you couldn’t print it, I’m sure that’ll be fine.

cheers
Naomi

Phubeth October 29, 2011 at 10:43 am

admin October 29, 2011 at 12:19 pm

Yuki Chan November 10, 2011 at 7:31 am

are there many teenagers learn in here?:)

admin November 10, 2011 at 7:37 am

Yes, there are. All teenagers welcome.

Yuki Chan November 10, 2011 at 7:55 am

What is Roda?

admin November 10, 2011 at 7:57 am

It literally means ‘circle’ in portuguese. It’s where we play Capoeira.

Yuki Chan November 10, 2011 at 7:25 pm

Thank you so much!Would like to come and try:)
